Our Story

Esther’s Story

Esther was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan, and moved to Pennsylvania at the age of 15. At an evangelical conference, she called on the name of Jesus to be her Savior, her heart was then overwhelmed with the joy of salvation and the love of Christ, marking the beginning of her faith journey.

During college, she attended missionary fellowship meetings every two months. She became captivated by the missionaries’ life stories and God’s work in the global church, particularly in regions where the Bible remained untranslated and the Gospel unpreached. This led her to contemplate her own calling and how God might use her to serve His Church.

She volunteered in Cambodia and Turkey, and taught English in Thailand and Taiwan.

During her time serving abroad, she discovered her gift and love for teaching. However, she also felt a strong desire to share the Gospel. This realization led her to pursue Biblical counseling at seminary.

She is now in her second year at the Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte studying Biblical counseling. She hopes to continue using her gifts and skills to share the Gospel and walk alongside others in their journey of faith.

Trey’s Story

Trey is from Martinsville, Virginia and moved to Lynchburg, Virginia for college. Before he went on to college, beginning at age ten, Trey competed driving racecars in various levels and series. However, God had a greater plan for Trey than his racing plans. While he was in Lynchburg, he got to study the Bible and learn about God. As Trey’s understanding of God deepened, he realized that only God’s love could fill the void in him that could never be filled, no matter how many races he won. He then soon found himself unable to hold back from sharing this Gospel of God’s amazing grace with the people around him.

Trey has served in campus ministry for many years. He is passionate about teaching young believers how to read the Bible and witnessing lives transformed by the power of the Gospel. Drawing from his experience of coaching track and being coached as a racecar driver, Trey gets to integrate his coaching expertise with his passion for sharing the Gospel at Charlotte Eagles’ soccer ministry. There, he not only coaches young immigrant children in soccer but also guides them in their daily walk with the Lord.

Trey began studying for the Master of Divinity at Reformed Theological Seminary in Charlotte in 2022 while working for the Charlotte Eagles. He desires to be further equipped to provide pastoral care and theological education to the immigrant community here in east Charlotte and beyond on the global mission field.
